Another issue is the result of me going single threaded. While it certainly helps in preventing the locking up of resources, it also defeats the multi-core design of Intel Macs. There are relatively high spikes with each character update and I'm not happy about them.

Stability
Being the first release of a major rewrite, I was expecting for some bugs to show up. However, after coordinating testing with a fellow corp member, it appears that stability took quite a massive hit. One example is when you add a lot of characters all at once. When you're going over 8, each additional one causes an exponential increase in time to setup. The only way to alleviate this problem seems to be to simply restart the app.

I just wanted to drop a line and say that your app looks good. As a Mac user, I wish there were more tools for EVE that work on a Mac. I did want to give you a few notes after using your program for a bit...
ReplyDeleteThere was very limited documentsion on your site about the app, so I wasn't sure what it was supposed to do.
I could not add skills into a new plan unless they were previously unlearned skills. It would not for instance add a skill trained at level 4 and add it to be trained to level 5.
It would be nice if the suite had ship fittings, so you can test ship configurations outside of eve.
Other than that, it looks like a fairly polished app, I like the development!!
As the last build was July 16, I wonder if you want to keep working in this project. Do you? I'm starting in mac dev's life and want to help. As said, I want a tool for fitting test, for pos fuel and fitting control, more complex skill planner... So, do you want help or maybe allow me to continue this? :)
ReplyDeleteVadim would it be possible to contact me via email I have a quick question regarding eve app programming in Xcode. cravenlee[at]gmail.com
